Scope and Objectives

Scope

This assessment was commissioned to evaluate the current state of Nissan North America’s (NNA) enterprise data environment, with a focus on governance, platform scalability, organizational structure, and data product delivery effectiveness. The review spans both strategic and operational dimensions, including:

  • Alignment and clarity of roles across Advanced Data Office (ADO), Regional Data Office (RDO), and other technology teams
  • Data governance maturity and policy enforcement
  • Data platform architecture and ingestion pipeline scalability
  • Portfolio rationalization of ongoing data projects and initiatives
  • Data quality, access models, and usage patterns across the enterprise
  • The evaluation included stakeholder interviews, technical deep dives, platform walkthroughs, and a review of current documentation and toolsets.

Objectives

The primary objective of this engagement is to provide actionable recommendations that enable NNA to:

  1. Realign Data Strategy with Business Goals Establish a unified data vision and clearly defined ownership models across ADO, RDO, and other stakeholders to reduce redundancy, eliminate role confusion, and drive business-aligned outcomes.

  2. Accelerate Delivery of High-Value Data Products Identify and remove bottlenecks in data access, quality assurance, and development workflows to improve time-to-insight, adoption, and decision-making impact.

  3. Strengthen Enterprise Governance and Trust in Data Implement scalable, business-led data governance structures that enhance data integrity, security, and regulatory compliance across all domains.

  4. Simplify and Modernize the Data Platform Refactor ingestion and transformation pipelines to enable modular, testable, and maintainable architecture, reducing rework and enabling faster innovation.

  5. Rationalize the Data Project Portfolio Prioritize strategic initiatives that deliver measurable business value, sunsetting low-impact projects, and shifting long-term bets into lean innovation tracks such as iLab.

  6. Empower Cross-Functional Collaboration and Autonomy Create clear accountability models, streamlined tooling access, and sandbox environments that empower ADO and RDO teams to build and iterate without operational drag.

This report is intended to guide executive decision-making around organizational alignment, platform investment, and governance reforms needed to position NNA as a truly data-driven enterprise.
